If I ever write my own cookbook, I'm going to include random ingredient amounts just to annoy people. If I'm going to cook something, I first check through the ingredient list to make sure I have something, but rarely check the amounts until I have to use the stuff. Imagine the confusion when halfway through a cake, you have to somehow use half an egg. Or when a recipe calls for 5 oz strawberries, without seeds.
Also in this cookbook would be pointless instructions, something I have always been fond of. Sometimes you have to be certain to let the cook know to deshell the eggs before using. Or to plug in the appliances before using. I mean, some people might not know how to feed themselves.
The sad thing is that I would probably get a chuckle out of the shelled egg, but would also spend a good 10 minutes trying to divide it in half.
